The AT&T AdWorks Lab wanted to create an interactive experience that celebrated AT&T's rich "History of Innovation". As visitors entered the Lab they would be prompted to explore the experience. With each innovation users were educated and amazed by the inspiring work AT&T had brought to the world. The experience was built for the web and was translated to touch via some interactive display adapters on the TVs. Using a combination of Design, UX/UI, Motion Graphics, and Web Development.
The Problem. While AT&T was known for its innovation, they had never really taken the time to create anything that beautifully showcased it. Unless you wanted to take a trip out to a warehouse in Somerset County, NJ you would never be able to experience it and a compelling or accessible way.
The Process. Our team set out to do research, we visited the AT&T Archives cataloging the best innovations of our time and collecting sample we could photograph, record or capture on video. We hand drew each innovation and recreated them as animations in illustrator. We built a prototype and tested with users who came into the Lab to gather user feedback.
The Solution. The result was a delightful experience full of surprises for our users. From the longest long distance phone call ever made from the white house to the moon to the first ever MP3 recording of Billie Holiday, AT&T had a History of Innovation. Boasting over 26,000 patents and eleven Nobel Prize's it's impact was something the world needed to see.
